Savibraator (Estonia)

Savibraator is a co-operative project of ceramists and musicians started by the ceramists Urmas Puhkan and Lauri Kilusk. Several musicians and ceramists have participated in the project as guest artists. The project consists of spectacular audiovisual improvisation within the music gets visual in clay and the clay forms in different rythms. The ceramists thow clay on the potters wheel. The process of throwing is shot and projectioned on the wall. The musicians get inspiration from the clay images and start to improvise, creating the circular system.
As the attractiveness of throwing appears mainly in details, we decided to amplify these details by video and projection. The result was unexpectedly good, because the image becomes abstract by shooting from the short distance.
The result is, that we see the picture, formed by rythmically turning and wiggling dynamic clay waves.
The throwing process gets a new bimention - the result is no the traditional pot, but the dynamic picture on the Wall.
Authors: Urmas Puhkan and Lauri Kilusk, musicians: Sander Saarmets (live electronics, violin), Kaur Garshnek (guitar), Silver Ulvik (drums).
